The Parish Council lease land for allotments from the land owner in Saddleback Lane, off North End, Bassingbourn (near the Parish Church). There are 28 allotments, some of them shared by two allotment holders. The Assistant Clerk holds the waiting list for allotments which is usually between 10 and 14 names. The name of the person at the top of the list is offered an allotment when it becomes empty. The cost of a full plot allotment is £70.00 per annum, payable by 29th September each year. Public liability insurance is required and can be obtained through the Saddleback Lane Allotment Society, who in turn, purchases the insurance from the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners Ltd.
